Special features of the Double Eye Needle:

The Double Eye Needle has two eyes and is designed for sewing with 2 top threads (needle threads). This allows for decorative effects to be achieved when topstitching and with decorative stitches. When using top threads of the same color, the seam becomes thicker and thus extra accentuated, the effect being similar to using a thicker thread. You can create special highlights with the Double Eye Needle when using sewing threads in different colors or with multicolor threads: Due to the two eyes, the sequence of the threads, unlike with two threads in a single eye, is always fixed. This is particularly appealing when decorative stitches are used.

Insert the Double Eye Needle into the needle bar as usual until it stops. Thread the two upper threads through all guide elements according to your machine's operating instructions. Use all separation options above the needle. Then, guide one of the threads through the upper eye and the other through the lower eye. Please note that the automatic needle threader does not work with the Double Eye Needle. The bobbin is inserted normally, as with other needles.

First, try the desired decorative stitches on a fabric scrap at the smallest width and gradually increase the stitch width. The effectively usable stitch width when using the Double Eye Needle is limited on many sewing machines. It depends on the respective sewing machine characteristics. If the set stitch width is too large, the thread in the upper eye will no longer be optimally picked up, and skipped stitches may occur. In this case, choose a smaller stitch width.
Don't be afraid to experiment: The possibilities are numerous, and truly interesting results can be achieved!

SCHMETZ Tip:

Skipped stitches at too large a stitch width can also be turned to your advantage: Use the Double Eye Needle for basting. For this, use only one upper thread, which you thread into the upper needle eye. Set a simple zigzag stitch with maximum stitch width and stitch length. Sew without backstitching. This will cause stitches to be skipped on one side; only at the needle penetrations on the other side will the thread interlock, resulting in a straight stitch seam with particularly long stitches that can be easily removed.
